Riccitelli & Father Malbec-Cabernet Franc Blend

Mendoza - Argentina

Jorge Riccitelli, who was the winemaker of the giant, Norton, for decades, is the father of Matías, and together they make this wine that's 70% malbec planted in 1927 on the alluvial soils of Las Compuertas, near the northern bank of the Mendoza River, in the highest part of Luján de Cuyo, at an altitude of about 1,100 meters, and 30% cabernet franc from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley. And although the firm and somewhat wild tannins of Los Chacayes are there, what predominates is the succulence and ripeness of the malbec from Las Compuertas. This is a big, broad-shouldered wine that needs a long time in the cellar.
