The experience at Sud 777 was impressive enough to put Sud 777, among the top five upscale dining restaurants in Mexico City. It’s perhaps a bit off the beaten path, but worth the trip from the heart of the city for most foodies.
Mataleón is beyond Bohemian. It’s irreverent and rough around the edges, but has outstanding burgers and fries at a very reasonable price. If the hip-hop and heavy-metal personality doesn’t scare you away, this is a great place for a burger.
Fisher’s has a big variety of fresh, quality seafood, prepared about any way you want it. Execution and service are very good. Can get busy, so arrive early.

The entire package is good enough to land Hooters on our list of Top Picks for gastropubs in Mexico City. The chicken sandwich also made Top Picks status on our Best Sandwich in Mexico City list.
Eno lives up to its good reputation. Pleasant ambiance. Varied menu with reasonable price. Hard to beat the place for breakfast.
La Unica has a nice ambiance, good food and friendly, attentive service. It’s a great place to watch the trendy crowd come and go. A bit expensive though.
Casa Portuguesa stands out as our top pick for Sunday brunch, thanks to its delightful terrace overlooking the park, impeccable service, and extensive selection of breakfast offerings.
Rooftop terrace overlooking the excavation of the Templo Mayor with a limited menu of salads and sandwiches. The food and service are acceptable but the view can’t be beat. Equally good for cocktails.

Cute and contemporary. Coffee from small producer in Vera Cruz. Sit down or take it to go from both Cuauhtémoc and Condesa locations. Espresso or brewed. Take your pick. Limited food items. Pan dulce and a few sandwiches. Our favorite quick-fix café in Cuauhtémoc.

Amaya is a more casual version of chef Jair Tellez’s Meretoro in Condesa. Ambiance is pleasant. Service was good. But unlike the flawless execution on our recent visit to Merotoro, there were multiple errors in execution on the entree course we were served at Amaya.

Debbie & Peponne’s waffle was good but I’d have been more happy with a standard waffle, topped with creamy butter and syrup. The way mom used to do it. Slightly crisp on the outside, steaming and soft inside.
True, the prices are pretty low. And the service was adequate. But bad food, even if free, is not a value.
Nobu in Polanco impresses with its exquisite design and decor, accompanied by exceptional service. Renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa elevates Japanese cuisine to gourmet heights, as evidenced by standout dishes like the Sea Bass in Dry Miso. While some offerings, like the sashimi, may fall short of expectations, Nobu’s overall dining experience remains memorable and worthy of praise.
A first-rate little restaurant with heart, soul, and good food specializing in food accompanied by raclette, a melted Swiss cheese. Chilaquiles with eggs and molletes for breakfast, sandwiches and salads.
The decor is not quite right, but not as gaudy as Dulce Patria. Service staff seemed a bit confused and flustered. That didn’t really affect service after the first course however. The food was surprisingly good.
It’s as cute as a button inside. Has a few tables out on the sidewalk to enjoy that beautiful Mexico City weather. They do the coffee right. 100% Oaxocan beans, with a mild roast but plenty of rich of flavor.
Service was top-notch with an army of waiters scurrying about on the terrace attending to every request. The WIFI worked flawlessly.
Maison Kayser, the international French Bakery and Restaurant chain, serves a wide variety of menu items including many breakfast items, sandwiches, crepes and French classics for lunch and dinner like Coq au Vin and Beef Bourguignon. Wanting something other than chilaquiles or huevos Rancheros for breakfast. It’s your lucky day.
Pretty darn good breakfast. The coffee is good, although coffee aficionadas will be saying it just doesn’t compare to Chiquitito Café.
Cáfe that only sells coffee in paper cups. But they have 12 varieties of coffee using beans from all over the world. Ambiance and service are lacking.
A comfortable ambiance, good service, and a creative menu put Hotel Carlota near the top of the list for upscale casual dining.
Gourmet quality food in a casual setting. Always busy and buzzing. Almost as good for people watching as it is for dining.
Not flashy. Not trendy. Just well executed and creative Mexican food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Consistent quality and service make El Cardenal the place you “go back to” in Mexico City.

Fresh, local and unique ingredients, a fusion of Italian and Mexican influence, prepared and served in an an unassuming restaurant, is the calling card of Chef Elena Regadas. Don’t let the humble surroundings deceive you. Rosetta is top of the list for lunch or dinner in Mexico City’s Roma Norte.
Meroto’s minimalist, yet warm and inviting ambiance, superb execution of modern Mexican fusion, and first-class service deserve praise. The dark and murky appearance of most the dishes belies the beauty that lies beneath that dark shroud.
