In a Nutshell

Spin-off of popular market/restaurant, Delirio, with an "order and take it with you" format. Good coffee and accompaniments. Even better prices.

Take a cup of nationally recognized cooking talent (in the form of Mónica Patiño). Stir in a healthy handful of trendy, loft-style décor. Sift in equal parts of artisanal gourmet food products and farm-fresh produce. Add a dash of creative menu. The result is the ultra-popular and equally successful market/restaurant Delirio, situated at the door to the up and coming trendy neighborhood, Roma Norte. (We had great things to say about Delirio in this review.)

Now, take a big slice of this popular concept and restaurant and put it into a more “fast and casual, order at the window and sit or take it with you” venue and what you’ve got is the little café, Abarrotes (de Delirio), at the back door of the same trendy neighborhood.

Home grown coffee, home baked goodies. Despite the trendy, sleek design, this is the cheapest cup of coffee in town. 33 pesos for a cup of cappuccino. That’s 33% cheaper than what we paid at Eno and Debbie & Peppone. The only cheaper cappuccino we found in town at a cafe was at Ojo de Agua in Juárez. If you drink as much java as I do, the savings could end up buying you a street taco or two per day.

This place is not well suited for long-term lounging. It’s definitely designed for the "order and go" crowd. But the WIFI worked flawlessly. I sat at a small table on the sidewalk and worked about an hour, sipping away at my milky coffee concoction and didn’t miss a beat.

If you want to lounge around or have a long discussion with a friend over a cup of coffee you might try nearby big brother, Deliriro, with full fledged table service, or the nearby Dosis Café. Both get our seal of approval.
