In a Nutshell

Ambrosia in Santiago's Vitacura community is a casual, but beautifully decorated restaurant with elegant touches. Well-executed menu and friendly, attentive service. Our top pick for upscale casual dining in all of Santiago.

Ambrosia Restaurant is located at the foot of the Andes mountains in the affluent Santiago neighborhood of Vitacura. A residential property at the edge of a quiet section on the northwestern outskirts of Santiago was remodeled to create a quaint ambiance that sits comfortably between casual and elegant. Just the right amount of each.

The recent addition of a large covered open-air terrace at the back of the restaurant has provided a much needed expansion to the number of patrons that can be comfortably accommodated.

The menu is seasonal and frequently changes and is sufficiently diverse to assure that you can order a unique creative plate on frequent visits without the routine ever becoming repetitive.
The current menu runs the gamut from pasta to unique preparations of beef and lamb with elegant condiments, each beautifully plated to create a stunning presentation.

Executive chef, Carolina Bázan, the daughter of the restaurant’s owner, has created a short but impressive menu that is executed expertly by the kitchen.

The service by a young, energetic, and well-groomed crew was nearly perfect on my latest visit.

On that day for lunch with three friends we ordered every main course item on the menu and each was executed flawlessly. Both the tagliatelle and orzo pasta were perfectly “al dente”. The white fish course was moist and flaky. The beef tongue was tender. No easy task, even for the most accomplished chef. The favorite of everyone at the table was the beef tenderloin tataki.

I could attempt to describe the sophisticated plating but the photos in the slider can describe the high level of artistry better than I can. Prices were better than reasonable based on the quality of ingredients and high level of execution by the kitchen and staff.

In summary, Ambrosía remains one of a handful of restaurants in the city that delivers gourmet cuisine at a level that makes this dining experience more than a culinary outing. It’s more of a culinary adventure making Ambrosía Restaurant one of our favorite high-end dining destinations, not only in Santiago, but in all of Latin America.
