When I arrived in Buenos Aires a decade ago, a pizza at Los Inmortales on Lavalle was my first meal in Buenos Aires. I recall thinking at the time that this pizza was very good. It\u2019s one of five pizzerias serving traditional Argentine pizza \u201cal molde\u201d in our upper echelon of the pizzerias in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n

The ingredients are slightly better than most of the pizzerias in the city. The d\u00e9cor, that pays tribute to the immortals of sports, music and film, is a bit dated in each location we\u2019ve been in, which we suppose, is part of the appeal.<\/p>\n

The original \u201ccasa\u201d which opened in the mid-1950\u2019s and the pre-pizzeria history of the business as a caf\u00e9 and bar is as interesting as the pizza is good. That restaurant was and still is located on pizza row (Avenida Corrientes in the theater district), a few blocks from another famous pizza parlor on our list, Pizzer\u00eda Guerr\u00edn, and is home to a famous painting of the city\u2019s great Tango singer, Carlos Gardel. The chain also has restaurants on Lavalle downtown, Paran\u00e1 in Recoleta facing Plaza Vicente L\u00f3pez, and in the heart of Belgrano. And the most recent addition to the family is located way out in Nordelta.<\/p>\n

The service is acceptable but won\u2019t win any awards. It\u2019s about as Argentine as the pizza.<\/p>\n

Looking for classic Argentine pizza a la piedra? Los Inmortales is one of the best in the city in this genre. For a more nostalgic feel, we recommend the Corrientes or Lavalle \u201ccasas\u201d. We\u2019ve been to the Paran\u00e1 location as well, but it doesn\u2019t quite have the soul that the other two locations seem to possess.<\/p>\n
