Piano Nobile is the casual restaurant cum café in Palacio Duhau, a historic property on Avenida Alvear, making up part of the impressive Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more pleasant spot in Buenos Aires for a liesurely breakfast, brunch, lunch or mid-afternoon snack. Piano Nobile is the casual restaurant cum café in Palacio Duhau, a historic property on Avenida Alvear, making up part of the impressive Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires.
The Park Hyatt - Palacio Duhau is situated on a full block in the heart of Recoleta. On one side of the block, on Posadas, is the more modern tower and on the opposite side, facing Avenida Alvear, is the historic mansion, the Palacio Duhau, where two of the restaurants on the property and the beautiful Oak Bar are located.
One of these restaurants is the Piano Nobile, elegantly decorated and situated with a terrace overlooking the impressive gardens in the center of the property between the tower and the historic building.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more pleasant spot in Buenos Aires for a liesurely breakfast, brunch, lunch or mid-afternoon snack. This elegant, yet unimposing restaurant, is also the location of the hotel's impressive afternoon tea.
Contrary to other information available online, including Google Maps, the restaurant opens at xxx for breakfast and is perhaps our favorite spot in the city.
Although they have impressive buffet, I prefer the better value of ordering off the a la carte menu. You can find it below. They serve a variety of international breakfast and lunch items and offer an array of expertly created desserts.
The restaurant is also the location of one of the city's two first-class afternoon teas, the other being at the stately Alvear Palace Hotel, a few blocks away.
Although the indoor dining area is impressive in its own right, the terrace overlooking the garden is as extraordinarily pleasant. Everyone on staff speaks fluent English and the service is spot-on, as it is in all the restaurants on the property.
If you get the opportunity, cap your dining experience with a walk through the garden connecting the tower with the mansion, or stroll up the subterranean walkway to the tower which features the work of local artists. It's a wonderful little private museum worth a visit.
We note that the adjoining Oak Bar is one of favorite watering holes in the city for a happy-hour cocktail.
You don't have to be a guest at the Park Hyatt to experience the sophisticated elegance of the Piano Nobile restaurant. It's worth a visit, regardless of where you stay.
