In a Nutshell
Elauge Hermanos is the best choice for a steak downtown, east of Corrientes. It doesn’t boast the kitschy estancia décor of your typical Argentine steakhouse. It’s slightly more casual and contemporary, relatively new making for pleasant ambience. Better than adequate service. Beef quality is good, and execution is typically spot-on.

Elauge Hermanos steakhouse is strategically located on the edge of the Buenos Aires financial district, a short block and half from Plaza de Mayo, the large public plaza in front of the Casa Rosado, the Argentine president’s official residence. It doesn’t boast the kitschy estancia décor of your typical Argentine steakhouse. It’s slightly more casual and contemporary, with white ceramic subway title walls with black grout provide a slight retro touch.
Also missing are the older male waiters that have become the hallmark of an Argentine steakhouse experience. The staff is younger and effectively managed such that service is better than adequate. The restaurant features the typical array of Argentine steak cuts and chicken, lamb and pork cuts as well.
With its close proximity to Plaza de Mayo it’s a popular lunch destination for both local and visiting business and government employees and the restaurant features a more reasonably priced multi-course lunch menu. This is not to say that the prices at Hermanos Elauge are higher than usual. They are, in fact, similar in price to the other of the city’s top steakhouses named in our list of the city’s best steakhouses.
A few things distinguish Elauge Hermanos from the other restaurants in that list, other than the rare downtown location of a restaurant of this caliber.
The quality of the beef is, in our estimation, on caliber with the other steakhouses in the list with the possible exception Cabaña las Lilas, which actually sources all its beef from its proprietary beef production ranches which enable Cabaña las Lilas to provide consistency in the quality of their beef that cannot easily be accomplished by the city’s other top steakhouses. But, of course, that unique characteristics will cost you more than twice what a similar steak will cost at Elauge Hermanos.
All this adds up to Elauge Hermanos ranking near the top of the list of the city’s best steakhouses.
