In a Nutshell

Boca de Toro joins a handful of top-notch Spanish restaurants in Buenos Aires. The menu offers a handful of Spanish, mostly Andalusian, classics with a sprinkling of dishes showcasing the chef's unique viewpoint on the cuisine. The ambience is slightly upscale but inviting. The service is top-notch. A positive addition to the dining scene in Buenos Aires and one of the few restaurants in the neighborhood, surrounded by small hotels, that provides an upscale dining experience.

Good news foodies! Buenos Aires has another quality Spanish restaurant located downtown within a few blocks from Plaza St Martín and the many small hotels located in that vicinity.

More good news. This Spanish restaurant offers a mid-day set-price menu with your choice of either two-course or three-course format at a reasonable price that's about half of what you'd pay in the evening for similar a la carte menu items.

The menu offers a host of classics of Spanish cuisine including papa bravas, Ibírico ham croquettes, a salmorejo (a cold tomato and garlic soup similar to the better known gazpacho) as appetizers and a bacalao main course dish. The menu also features many unique creations authored by Chef Ismael Alonso.

The restaurant is elegantly decorated offering a more sophisticated feel than the nearby Tancat, also offering Spanish cuisine, in a more casual and quirky, although pleasant ambience. Service was professional and friendly at Boca de Toro. Tableware was quickly changed between each course.

Execution of the menu was flawless, although nothing that really surpised us in a pleasant way. Just excellent Spanish cuisine, with traditional and customary ingredients, well prepared.

Our value rating reflects the fact that the restaurant offers a very reasonably priced three-course lunch menu, resulting in a slightly higher rating for value.

Overall, Boca de Toro is a Spanish restaurant deserving of any fan of Spanish cuisine.
