In a Nutshell

This is sort of a build your own burger format. You can select the weight of the patty and the toppings and they’ll flip up and serve ’em up the way you want them. They are quite reasonably priced.

Burger Mood is another one of the many fast-casual-dining restaurants that are springing up all over Buenos Aires. This one, as the name indicates, serves a variety of burgers. It’s located in downtown and caters to the lunch crowd that works in the nearby office buildings.

This is sort of a build your own burger format. You can select the weight of the patty and the toppings and they’ll flip up and serve ’em up the way you want them. They are quite reasonably priced in the range of from US$4 to $6 (ARP$50 to $75).

The place won’t win any awards for ambiance. It’s clean and pleasantly designed but has sort of a stale fast-food atmosphere that doesn’t really make you want to sit there for any longer than it takes to down the burger and fries. You order at the register and then the burger will be brought out to you but it’s not really table service.

They have a fairly decent array of toppings. We ordered the cheeseburger which only comes with bread, meat and patty, and then added some tomatoes and avocado. And I ordered up something with blue cheese, caramelized onions and an egg on top. Thank God I had that cheese and egg as the patty was, as is typical with most the burgers we sample, way too lean, being way short of the good juicy fat that makes a burger worth eating. The fries were crisp and hot but nothing really special. The bun was a typical sesame seed round-top bun.

Remember, when assessing our ratings on these reviews for our Burger Joint Faceoff, that the quality of the meat patty makes up 40% of the overall score. The bun, condiments and fries another 10% each. And the ambiance of the restaurant, service and value making up the final 30%.

Here’s how we tallied up the score.
