Restaurant and Bar Reviews
Although Santiago has its fair share of formidable restaurants running the gamut, from hot dog stands to gourmet dining establishments, there is no one that would claim that the country is a culinary hot spot. All the tour books tell you to visit the Central Fish Market. Our advise, skip it. You can see much better and fresher fish in your local supermarket. And the restaurants in the market that cater to the tourists aren't any more impressive than the market itself. The mere fact that the one food most often associated with the country is a hot dog called a "completo" is a pretty a good indication that this locale is not a prime gastronomical destination. But there are plenty of other good reasons to visit Santiago, and while you're there you have to eat. So it might as well be somewhere good.
