In a Nutshell

Fontina Trattoria is not your stereotypical Italian eatery. Tastefully decorated. Good food and service. Family-friendly. All at the best prices in town.

No stereotypical green and red décor at Fontina Trattoria. No cliché red-checkered tablecloths. It’s tastefully decorated and serves reasonably priced Italian cuisine in a family-friendly atmosphere. It’s located in Juárez in a neighborhood with many new restaurants within a couple of blocks of Comidor Lucerna, Milan 44 and many of the city’s top restaurants along Paseo de Reforma.

The menu is simple. A few classic appetizers, salads, soups, pasta and pizza. Hungry at 9 a.m.? No problem. They also serve breakfast with all the traditional egg dishes, chilaquiles and enchiladas. All well executed at the lowest prices in town.

We were there recently for lunch and had a bruschetta appetizer and spaghetti Bolognese. Both exceeded the quality of the food we recently had at both Nonsolo in Polanco and Attenti in Cuauhtémoc, despite being more reasonably priced. And the chocolate cake with a raspberry coulis was better than many desserts we’ve tasted at high-end restaurants.

The serve a limited variety of cocktails with tequila, mezcal and gin. And they have a limited offering of beer (Stella Artois and Heineken) and wine.
