Misia sits a stone’s throw from the Parque de Independencia, in the shadow her older brother, Leo (the much-lauded restaurant created by Leo Espinoza, who has gained the reputation of being one of Colombia’s rising culinary stars).Misia offers breakfast and traditional Colombian comfort food in a clean, casual setting. Nothing elaborate about the décor. It’s sort of a cross between modern industrial and cutesy, quaint café (the kind with the occasional ceramic hen strewn about the room).Pleasant folk-style guitar music and an occasional flamenco piece lightly billowing through the air. A clever mural on the back wall.Apron-clad waiters and waitress. A black cook that resembled the famed Aunt Jemima. All the pieces in place for a good breakfast, right?Every type of egg Colombian egg dish imaginable, some with sausage, some with a creamy white cheese, some with corn, fried, scrambled and served on a thing arepa, toasted until it’s crispy.I opted for the Misia Tere, a scrambled egg, served atop some creamy white cheese, a sausage link, sliced into pieces, a glass of papaya juice and a cappuccino. All for about US $4.75 (14,000 pesos).They also have some interesting breakfast egg casseroles, varieties with various ingredients, including the aforementioned cheese and scrambled eggs, sweet corn cut from the cob, and a variety of other local cheeses. You can see two examples in the slider.Overall, a pleasant ambiance and good food at a better than reasonable price. A friendly, pleasant staff, offering attentive service.It’s a short walk from La Calendaria and an even shorter walk from the Ibis Hotel across the street.
