Summary

Taco stand with some limited indoor and outdoor seating. Not going to win any design awards. That's for sure. But if cheap, tasty, inexpensive tacos is what you're craving. This is the place.

Restaurant Review for La Fabrica del Taco - Buenos Aires

Wow. Another place that serves up Mexican grub. This is one of those funky, low end, laid-back kind of places serving up tacos, more tacos and just in case you’re not in the mood for tacos, they have tacos too. Just kidding. If you’re wanting some variety you can have chips, guacamole and quesadillas too. Point is ... you’re not going to find Mexican enchiladas, tamales (Mexican humitas), or chili relleno at La Fabrica del Taco. Just spicy, tasty little tacos by the plateful. They even have a real Mexican in the kitchen chopping up the onions and peppers. Waiters and waitresses are required to have tattoos and dreadlocks. It’s just that kind of place. Authentic Mexican norteño music in the background. Colorful posters and picnic tables. Just a good place to kick back for a couple of tacos. Each one will cost you somewhere between $30 and $40 (that’s about US $2.50 each). Not bad for food that actually has flavor. You could easily pay three times that for a burnt steak and stale French fries down the street. Beer you ask? Well of course they have Corona and Negra Modelo from Mexico. A few types of Quilmes. And several varieties of artisinal Patagonia in those big 750 ml bottles. This place still scores high in the “dive serving food” category. Execution? 4 stars for having a real Mexican in the kitchen. Service. OK but nothing to brag about at 3.5 stars. Ambiance? Sorry. Just a little too laid back to score any better than 3 in this category. I’m thinking about a 4 for Originality. After all ... it's Mexican food so that alone scores points for originality. Value? Well a taco for $35 is pretty good. We’ll give them 3.5 stars for that. Overall that’s a 3.6. Not bad for a taco stand.
