It used to be that bars were for drinking libations and restaurants were for dining out. But modern gasto-trends have blurred the distinctions. Buenos Aires is home to several popular establishments that double as popular watering-holes and restaurants. In fact, a handful of the city's best upscale restaurants fall firmly into this genre.

Peron Peron
Cuisine(s): Argentine . Rating: 4.3 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

If we’d have know that Evita could inspire a restaurateur to put out rich, sumptuous comfort food and equally good beer we’d have changed our political leanings years ago. Don’t miss Peron, Peron.

Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau - The Palace Guards are waiting

The Nim Bar
Cuisine(s): Tapas - Finger Foods . Rating: 4.4 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

The Nim Bar has an impressive upscale ambience, creative menu, 30 craft beers on tap and bar tenders that know their stuff. We weren’t impressed with the “nachos” that weren’t nachos but the Asian-style ribs were a winner. This is makes our list of the Top-10 Upscale Bars in Buenos Aires.

Gran Bar Danzon - Buenos Aires
Cuisine(s): Eclectic . Rating: 4.2 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

Gran Bar Danzon has been the premier bar and restaurant in Buenos Aires for a decade. Drinks, dinner, or both. No better location than Gran Bar Danzon.

Berlina Cerveza

Florería Atlántico - Buenos Aires
Cuisine(s): Grilled Steaks, Seafood . Rating: 4.2 stars . Cost: $$$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

The hottest bar in Buenos Aires might just be the best restaurant as well. A limited menu with one steak, a few fish main course items, and a handful of tapas. But what they do, they do marvelously well. Not so good for a romantic or quiet dinner. But for great food at a reasonable price in a fun atmosphere it’s the best choice in Buenos Aires.

Faena Sunsets

Basa
Cuisine(s): Argentine, Eclectic . Rating: 4.1 stars . Cost: $$$$ . Restaurant type: Gastropub, Upscale Casual Summary:

Basa is sleek and trendy. Upscale. Uptempo. Restaurant. Bar. Take your pick. Great food. Unique menu. A bit loud. If you’re looking for a traditional restaurant try one of many in La Recova four blocks away.

Nola - Buenos Aires
Cuisine(s): Cajun-Creole . Rating: 4.1 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Fast Casual, Gastropub Summary:

Yo from Looziana? Yo luv it. Yo not from Looziana? Yo still luv it. Best sandwich in town. Yo only live once. Go for the PICANTE sauce.

Berlina Cerveza

El Tejano (ex The Alamo) - Buenos Aires
Cuisine(s): American Barbecue . Rating: 4.1 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Gastropub Summary:

Please note: El Tejano has moved to a location in Palermo at Av. Córdoba 5267. We believe a bar that is only open in the evenings remains at the location on Paraguay. We will update this review in September of 2018.

Patio Bullrich

Trova Wine Bar
Cuisine(s): Eclectic . Rating: 4.2 stars . Cost: $$$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

Outstanding food in stark but tastefully decorated restaurant. Sommelier will show you the wine collection and provide information about the region, the grape variety and vintage of each wine. We really enjoyed this outing and think you will as well.

Shout - Buenos Aires
Cuisine(s): Eclectic . Rating: 4.0 stars . Cost: $$$ . Restaurant type: Casual Dining, Gastropub Summary:

This place had a very similar vibe to what you get over at Floreria Atlantico, but with better prices and more room to move around. That’s a plus, especially if you’re claustrophobic.
