Chipe Libre – Barrio Lastarria – Santiago

Rating: 4.5 Stars . Restaurant Type: Casual Dining, Gastropub . Peruvian . Cost: $$$ . If we had to choose one place to go for food and drinks in Santiago it would surely be Chipe Libre. Great decor. Very good service. Unique experience.

Rating: 4 Stars . Restaurant Type: Formal Dining . Italian . Cost: $$$$ . Not your typical Italian. This is Italian cuisine to the nth degree in an elegant setting. Superb execution and service.

El Baqueano – Buenos Aires – San Telmo

Rating: 2.4 Stars . Restaurant Type: Formal Dining . Gourmet Cuisine . Cost: $$$$ . No a la carte menu. Multi-course only. Of seven courses three were substandard. Decor like a Texas roadhouse. Vastly overrated.

La Pecora Nera – Buenos Aires – Recoleta

Rating: 4.1 Stars . Restaurant Type: Formal Dining . Italian . Cost: $$$$ . Small restaurant. Elegant decor. More French than Italian despite the name. Superb execution and service. One the best formal dining options in BA.

Ox – Restaurant Review – Santiago – Vitacura

Rating: 4 Stars . Restaurant Type: Casual Dining, Bistro . Grilled Steaks . Cost: $$$$ . Ox offers tender, dry aged steaks in a sophisticated setting. Expensive, but worth it. One of the best steakhouses in Latin America.

El Ranchero – Vitacura – Santiago

Rating: 3.5 Stars . Restaurant Type: Casual Dining . Mexican . Cost: $$ . This is about the only viable choice for "almost-authentic" Mexican food in Santiago. Very reasonable prices and a darn good Margarita.

Rating: 3 Stars . Restaurant Type: Casual Dining . Peruvian . Cost: $$ . Average food with average service in a less than average setting. Lunch menu at Olaya in Palermo Hollywood is an immensely better choice for Peruvian.

Tesla – Palermo Hollywood – Buenos Aires

Rating: 3.8 Stars . Restaurant Type: Gastropub . Sandwiches-Salads-Finger Foods . Cost: $$$ . Nice modern Gastropub pouring artisanal beer and ale on tap plus cocktails. The tapas were good. Excellent place to have a brew.
